I'm home! More specifically, I'm currently at Hennepin and 26th in Minneapolis. At the Tea Garden. And it feels very, very weird. It is good to be home, of course, because I'm a pretty big fan of more personal space and a real mattress. It's also nice to see everyone again -- family, friends, strangers that I used to see on a regular basis yet don't really know. It's going to take some time to adjust, though. Where my subway at? Where my delis and Nuts 4 Nuts kiosks? I miss everyone in New York -- no family, but friends, and homeless people I used to see on a regular basis yet don't really know. I will have to get used to living in the best of both worlds. I get to have a nice and relaxing summer away from the hot and disgusting city with my family and a cabin and a job I know I'll love and stress-free improv. In the fall, I'll get right back into doing what I love in New York; SNL, improv, just BEING in a fabulous city, sweet UCB (ASSSSCAT) action...
Now I should just work on soaking up the Tea Garden, Lake Calhoun, Stevie Ray's, the Brave New Workshop, St. Louis Park and HOME in general. Because you know what? By the end of the summer, I bet I'll be at that point of apprehension for leaving again. That's the way things go. It won't be as bad or unknown and scary as last August, but it will be yet another bittersweet time I'll have to deal with.
Maybe I should really work on just living in the present. The future will come soon enough.
